In an attempt to make the most of the facilities at uni while I still can… and continue my printmaking learning, i experimented with the letterpress! it is a much longer process than i thought, but super rewarding once you finally get to see your print after hours of prep. i made a small print to start, before immediately beginning a much larger two day print. im very happy with both, especially my improvement in colour mixing.
this print was then drawn into with coloured pencils, adding the surrounding cutlery.
huuuuuge! this is one of my ghost prints, meaning i didnt re-ink the plates before taking another print from them. this leaves you with a slightly faded, patchier print, which i regularly prefer to the more saturated versions.
these i made when cleaning off my rollers, i absolutely love the fragments of text that show through from the letter press. these will be great for future collage!
