a new printmaking process i have recently tried out, my solution to monoprinting in multiple colours!

after placing a sketch under this perspex sheet, we fixed it into place with screws and then essentially traced the sketch and created a monoprint-plate? having originally working in screen printing, it was helpful to think of the process in a similar way, working through the layers and adding colours one by one.

here are my inks all mixed, one key difference with this process is the addition of extender, which lowers the opacity of the inks and helps you to see the sketch below the perspex sheet.

here i have put multiple different colours, ready to print in just one pass (very exciting compared to the equivalent time needed to screen print each of these colours).

suuuuper big fan of this overlap caused by the more translucent ink layering!

here is the print after one more layer of colour, hoping to finish off with a dark teal outline layer next.
